Jen enjoying Quattro Formaggi
John thought it was crazy good.
I did too. duh.
Last Monday, I met my friends---newlyweds---Jen and John for lunch at Tarry Lodge. It's in Port Chester, NY and it's one of Mario Batali's restaurants. I have eaten his pizza at Mozza in LA, so I knew I was in for a treat. (I'll review Mozza when I have it again, which is hopefully soon because it was unbelievably good)
We started off with a Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Caprese Salad to split. I wasn't sure how I felt about beets, but it turns out, I feel pretty good about them. Put goat cheese on anything and I'll like it, but I actually liked the beets too. We then split 2 pizzas and we chose well. I'll start with the crust. It is the perfect amount of chewy and crispy, not too thin, not too thick. Then you add the interesting topping of crispy potatoes, pancetta and rosemary and you have a winner! We then tried the Quattro Formaggi, it was a heavenly blend of cheeses which, I feel, you can never have enough of.
Because we were still sooooo hungry, we finished off with some pasta. The Tagliatelle Bolognese was to die for. I don't like when people call a sauce "bolognese" when all they've done is put some ground up hamburger in it. This was so much more than that. They don't say what the ingredients are, but I can assure you, they're yummy. I will definitely be going back to try the other pizzas and pastas!

This just made me very hungry. Looks like Tarry Lodge will be a great place to taste these pizzas. I would like to try out that Quattro Formaggi and Tagliatelle Bolognese!
